As a collaborative pianist serving various groups in Ventura County, I am most inspired when working with other musicians. While the term accompanist is still widely used, I prefer the title collaborative pianist as it reflects the depth of musical communication and mutual respect that true ensemble work requires. It’s not about playing in the background—it’s about building something expressive and unified together. A collaborative pianist is more than just a supporting musician, they are musical partners who bring sensitivity, energy, and cohesion to every performance. Whether in rehearsal or on stage, my number one goal is to anticipate and adapt—supporting phrasing, timing, and expression in real time.
